Island Medical City, Penang

community, healthcare

Penang, Malaysia

The project is planned as a part of a larger masterplan of a ‘city’ of medical facilities, hotels and residences. Envisioned as part of existing Island Medical Hospitals expansion plan, a new 12-storey hospital building with specialist outpatient clinics as well as a 300-bed hospital with associated supporting facilities is planned opposite the hospital’s current premise. The new hospital building is designed as a modern and streamlined structure in order to express the effective and integrated services of one of the top medical facilities in Penang. Designed to complement the medical processes of healing, the tall glass facade brings natural light and views deep into the hospital spaces and sky-terraces and walls of greens creates a conducive recovery environment for patients and healthcare workers alike.
