Queen Astrid Gardens, Singapore
The design brief asked for minimal physical intervention necessary to achieve maximum environmental difference. Thus, on a ‘need-to-basis’, spaces in the house were carefully enlarged and openings made to visually connect them. Patios and balconies were added in places where they form spill-over event spaces as well as weather-filters. These spaces were oriented so that family members can lounge and enjoy an unobstructed view of the home’s tropical landscape and pool from all parts of the house.
