additions & alterations, conservation
Syed Alwi Road, Little India Conservation District, Singapore
Extensive additions and alterations were made to the interior of 3 pairs of 3-storey late Art Deco heritage buildings to turn this into a crafted 40-rooms luxury boutique hotel. Located within the Little India conservation district, the façade was sensitively and honestly restored while the uniquely excessive and mischievous interior design of art-inspired experience and old-world hospitality was undertaken by world-renowned French designer Jacques Garcia. While the hotel hosts its own bar, lounge and restaurant, it also intentionally engages the richly textured context of local food and historical sights and sounds to enrich the unique experience of an embedded stay in Little India historical district.
